Elwha River Restoration
The Elwha River in Washington State was once home to one of the largest salmon runs in world history. When the river was dammed in 1910, however, the salmon run all but vanished. Now, after more decades of political and social dispute, the Elwha and Glines Canyon dams are the subjects of the largest dam removal project in USA history.
The story of the Elwha River Restoration is dramatic and fascinating, and continues to develop. Updates are featured on the documentary film’s blog as the story unfolds.
Linguistics and Politics in Gibraltar
“People of the Rock: The Llanitos of Gibraltar” is a documentary film I am producing and directing. The film shows Gibraltar’s international human rights struggles through the perspective of linguistics, politics and culture.
This is segment I worked on heavily while working as an editor and director of photography at BYU Independent Study. I was the main camera operator and assistant DP on this project. We shot mostly on a Panasonic HVX-200. I pieced together the score using licenses from omnimusic.com. I also performed sound cleaning, video editing, color correction, visual effects (3D stills, etc…), and worked heavily on set and wardrobe development. The only visual effects seen here that I didn’t do are the flying yearly dates, designed by Jared Moench.
